‘Hidden’ (Public Performance)
September 22 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm BST
Two cultures collide and form an unlikely alliance to challenge hatred and fear.
Hidden is set on a beach in Hayling Island one cold February day. It’s the story of Alix, a white British 14-year-old girl, and Samir, a young Iraqi refugee.
After school one day she sees a small crowd from their school bullying and taunting her classmate Samir with racist abuse. ‘Paki, Taliban, terrorist’ they shout at the young Iraqi refugee. ‘Leave him alone. Pick on someone your own size!’, where does that voice come from? Why does she feel the need to defend this boy she has never spoken to before?
We watch their friendship grow as they encounter a stranger in the sea and are faced with making some tough decisions between what’s morally right and the rule of law.
