The Gap

The Gap Theatre Company offers young people (aged 18+) taking a ‘gap year’ the opportunity to delve deeper into the world of theatre and develop themselves as artists, before heading off to drama school, university or full-time work.

Supported and mentored by the team here at Forest Forge, The Gap are encouraged to create their own work – from full studio productions to pieces of street theatre. Members also take part in masterclasses delivered by Forest Forge and other professional artists covering all aspects of theatre-making, from how to write funding applications to marketing, stage management, sound and lighting to performance and audition techniques. Members also have the opportunity to become assistants in our Youth Theatre and deliver workshops in the local community.

Previous productions produced by The Gap include: The Trial, Alice, Love Steals Us From Loneliness and most recently The Fairytale Lives of Russian Girls with members managing all aspects of the show themselves.

Former members of The Gap have gone on to train at the UK’s most prestigious drama schools, including RADA and Rose Bruford and undertaken full-time careers in the Arts.
