Artist Development

From playwrights, and performers, to directors, designers, and technicians, supporting and collaborating with the next generation of local, regional and international artists is one of the most important aspects of our work here at Forest Forge.

We’re always keen to develop innovative and creative partnerships, as well as providing professional development and mentoring opportunities for emerging theatre companies and creatives. These are our current associate companies and artists.

Forest Forge’s commitment to developing new and challenging work makes them one of the most exciting companies to work with outside of London. What I love most about working with the team is how much trust they give to artists to make work and also the engagement and warmth of their own theatre audience. Forest Forge is a place where worlds are born and brought to life, where stories are told and audiences challenged – you can get lost in there but you also can be found. I can’t wait to be back.
Paul Hewitt, playwright

The Gap

The Gap Theatre Company offers young people (aged 18+) taking a ‘gap year’ the opportunity to delve deeper into the world of theatre and develop themselves as artists, before heading off to drama school, university or full time work.

Members also have the opportunity to become assistants in our Youth Theatre and deliver workshops in the local community.

Previous productions produced by The Gap include: The Trial, Alice, Love Steals Us From Loneliness and most recently The Fairytale Lives of Russian Girls with members managing all aspects of the show themselves .
